Matcha Bowl with Grass Glaze and Three Types of Clay

A matcha bowl that harmonizes a calm grass-green color with the warmth of the earth.

The expression of the glaze, shifting from deep olive green to brownish tones, evokes the imagery of a natural landscape.

With a slightly low, substantial cylindrical form and a gently undulating rim, its imperfect silhouette creates a rustic beauty unique to handcrafted work.

The grass-colored glaze spreads across the interior, revealing a gentle luster when it catches the light.

Anna's Craftsmanship

This bowl is made using three different types of clay: white Shigaraki clay, red Izumo clay, and raw clay harvested in Nara Prefecture.

By combining the unique characteristics of each soil, a rich texture is achieved, complete with fine particles and natural variations in the surface.

The glaze used is a "grass glaze" uniquely formulated by Anna.

The greenish-brown glaze varies in intensity across the surface, creating a complex expression as it overlaps with the color of the clay.

Fine iron spots and small indentations on the surface allow you to feel the true presence of the clay itself.

The bottom of the vessel is left unglazed to preserve the original color and texture of the earth. You can enjoy the contrast between the hand-carved marks on the foot and the smooth luster of the glaze.

This is a bowl with a quiet presence that treasures the colors of nature and the power of raw materials.
