Matcha Bowl with Amber Glaze Made from Three Types of Clay

A matcha bowl with an impressive depth of amber color and a lustrous glaze.

This piece was crafted by combining white Shigaraki clay, red Izumo clay, and raw clay from Nara Prefecture.

A rich gradation of colors spreads across the surface of the vessel, ranging from reddish-brown to a charred brown that is nearly black.

The rounded body and the gently undulating rim evoke the warmth unique to handmade objects.

Anna's Curated Selection

The charm of this tea bowl lies in the rich expression created by its deep amber glaze.

The surface shows traces of flowing glaze and shifts in shading, changing its expression from reddish-brown to dark brown depending on how the light hits it.

The rim is finished with a shape that feels slightly angular, creating an impressive contrast with the rounded body.

The lustrous glaze extends to the inside of the vessel, where its deep hue enhances the vibrant green of the matcha.

The foot is left unglazed, showing the raw body created from the blend of three types of clay. The contrast between the lustrous exterior and the rustic soil texture on the underside is another appealing feature of this piece.

About Handcrafted Pottery

Because each piece is handmade, there are individual differences in shape, color, and surface texture.

Glaze drips, uneven coloring, small surface irregularities, and fluctuations in the rim are unique characteristics born from the handcrafting process.

Please enjoy the one-of-a-kind expression created by the clay and the glaze.
